He may be 76, but he maintains the pace of a 20-year-old.
Courtenay resident Terry Penney volunteers his time by taking photographs, making prints of programs and photographs, making videos, and even making a mean batch of trifle for cast and crew members of local productions.
“It’s community theatre that I’m very involved with one way or another, or in performance art,” said Penney, a Cumberland resident. “I do a lot of photography for theatre and dance groups. I also do a lot of printing for local and non-profit groups.”

“Make a bit of money for Courtenay Little Theatre and save money for them.”
Penney’s involvement with local theatre started about 25 years ago when his granddaughter, Brittany, joined Rainbow Youth Theatre. But his interest in theatre began long before settling in the Comox Valley.
“I’d done theatre as a kid in Britain. I’ve appeared in a few shows. In more recent years, I produced a lot and also got into — which is quite fascinating — sound effects. Controlling sound effects with computers, and projected video effects as well.”
Penney serves on the Courtenay Little Theatre board of directors. He is also a lifetime member, along with the likes of Sid Williams.
