Bill Anglin truly believes in giving back to the community.
Following his retirement from the Canadian air force after a 25-year career as a flight engineer, Anglin, now a real estate agent, is an active volunteer within the Comox Valley community.
He is a director of the Central Vancouver Island Boys & Girls Club, and also sponsors their annual golf tournament which raises funds in support of youth.
“To invest in youth in so many ways allows them to reap the benefits for the rest of their lives,” he explained.
Anglin is also a sponsor for the Variety Children’s Radiothon annually, and volunteers his time working the phones to encourage as many donations during the fundraiser. He has also helped sponsor Ribfest to raise funds for the Strathcona Sunrise Rotary Club.
Additionally, Anglin is a board member on the Sid Williams Theatre Society, and United Way Central and Northern Vancouver Island.
“I received a lot of exposure about the United Way through the military and it’s great because you can donate to one central place for so many organizations. With the Sid Williams, arts and culture are the backbone of any community.”
If that wasn’t enough, Anglin also sits on the board of directors for the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation.
“Sooner or later, everyone will need some lever of service from the hospital,” he noted.
Anglin served for numerous years as a minor hockey official, a board member for the Glacier Greens Golf Club and past foundation chair of the Comox Rotary Club.
His roots run deep in the community and in leadership, as he served as a councillor for the City of Courtenay as well as a Comox Valley Regional District director.
Currently, Anglin also volunteers to mentor and educate new Realtors.
“(To be nominated) is certainly a really nice honour, but I don’t do it for the recognition.”
